Summer hair care

Summer is a wonderful time of year. Trips to the sea or out of town, trips to the beach or holiday at the cottage, walks in the fresh air … We want to spend as much time as possible outside of the stuffy office.

But the excessive heat, dryness and ultraviolet light can damage not only the skin, but also the hair. Let’s see how to properly care for them in the summertime, so as not to treat breakage and burnout. And do not spend the whole autumn to restore.

How the sun and water The sun and water have an effect on your hair

Sunbathing, seawater, high temperatures and dry air are not the best conditions for perfect hair. And if something is not done immediately, the result of such intensive exposure is rather unfortunate. Among the possible consequences are clogging of pores in the scalp and the appearance of dandruff. The hair will lose its natural light due to fading, it will become dry and brittle. And in the most extreme case, it will even start to fall out!

But these troubles can be avoided if you follow the advice of experts.

The sun, salt water, wind – all this is good for recreation, but for the hair – it’s a real stress, from which the luxurious hair can turn into a burned out bundle of wax. Hair will lose its shine, become dry and lifeless. But first let’s consider what exactly the effect of all these factors:

Bright sun

The light strongly dries out everything it hits, as it destroys the lipid barrier that holds moisture.

As a result, elasticity and firmness are lost. Ultraviolet radiation destroys pigments, so hair quickly dulls and discolors. This applies to natural pigmentation as well as the highest quality dyes.

Water

Seawater by itself is not harmful, but in large quantities destroys protein, making the hair shaft porous. And when “bundled” with the bright sun, high temperatures and wind causes rapid drying.

Fresh water is full of germs and bacteria. Do not forget about the sand and dirt, which spoil the hair.

Wind

Constant exposure to wind makes the ends of your hair dry and brittle. As a result, they begin to split, and they need to be trimmed.
It should be noted another danger of summer – conditioners. Even if you try to sit out the hottest period under the air conditioner, you need to remember that the air conditioned air is overdry. It deprives the hair of moisture, disrupting the hydro-balance.

But if you adapt your daily hair care routine to the new conditions, you can take control of the situation and change it for your own good.

The right hair care in the summer

First of all, you need to delicately and gently cleanse your hair. And to do this, use a high-quality shampoo (about the properties of summer shampoos – a little further).

If you wash your hair in the summer with hot water, they are even more stressed. It is better to use water no warmer than 36 ° C. And finish the procedure by rinsing with room temperature water. This will leave your hair smooth and shiny.

You should wash your hair more often, immediately after contamination, and not wait until the evening or morning. In this case the pores will not get clogged, and the oxygen exchange will not be disturbed.

You should also provide nutrition and protection. To do this, use balms, conditioners and special masks. These products will help maintain the hydro-balance and facilitate combing. As a result, hair will look more well-groomed. It is necessary to choose conditioners and masks containing natural oils and ingredients of seasonal berries and fruits. It is recommended to use a conditioner after every wash, and masks should be applied once a week.

It is also recommended to apply a non-washing sunscreen product to the hair. This will create a film that protects against fading. The degree of protection is determined by the SPF, SUN, or “Leave IN” label.
